Jr. Iron Chef Competition
The Andes Central School High School Cooking class participated, for the first time, in the Annual Jr. Iron Chef Cooking competition at SUNY Cobleskill on April 1, 2017. Students representing Andes Central School were Senior Taylor Day, Juniors Autumn Laurie and Laurynn Weaver and Sophomore Mazzy Williams.
The Jr. Iron Chef is a project of the Bassett Research Institute 5-2-1-0 Initiative and RHENSOM. Jr. Iron Chef is a compeition for a team of middle and high school students from Delaware, Montgomery, Otsego, Herkimer, Oneida, Sullivan, Fulton, Chenango and Schoharie counties to develop healthy recipes using a combination of local and USDA foods that could be prepared in a high school cafeteria. There were 11 schools/BOCES represented. Although Andes Central School did not win a prize this year, they had a wonderful time and are looking forward to attending again next year.
